Child Life Specialist (Per diem) Surgical - Needham, MA

Position Summary: Per diem Child Life Specialist. Please note this is at our Needham, MA location and may also require some shift pick-ups in Boston. This role will support our surgical department. We require a minimum of 24 hours worked a month. 

The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

• Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences 
• Serve as member of multidisciplinary team.
• Delegate work assignments to volunteers/Child Life Assistant's and participate in clinical training of student interns.

 

Key Responsibilities: The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for: Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients. Serving as member of multidisciplinary team. Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life. 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist. Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member. Licensure/ Certifications: Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
