Location: Salina, KS 67401 POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Director, the Child Nutrition Coordinator will create, implement, manage, and model both systems and practices that support Child Nutrition. Emphasis will be on maintaining quality food according to state regulations. Oversee food sites maintaining clean kitchen/serving areas and a good relationship with all staff, members and participants. Coordinate other Food Service Program locations alongside director. Provides quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Other duties assigned by director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervise the stocking, preparing, and servicing all food and beverage items for YMCA Food Programs. Supervise clean and safe kitchens and storage environments at all food sites. Maintain acceptable standards in the Food Service areas based upon the State of Kansas, OSHA, USDA, and CACFP Regulations. Create and follow all assigned schedules, menus, and operations. Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and consistently demonstrating professional conduct. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs. Actively participates in staff leadership activities and meetings Assist in managing the budget by controlling expenses. Monitor staff and sites for compliance with CACFP AND SFSP requirements. All other duties as requested. QUALIFICATIONS Experience assisting and preparing food for groups. Must be knowledgeable and willing to take classes regarding food preparation, storage, etc. Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service within 30 and 60 days of hire. (Training opportunities available) Maintain a positive relationship with children, employees, and guests. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting deadlines. Use good judgment and discretion within the department and assignments. Valid Kansas driver’s license. Follow all Salina Family YMCA and Kansas Department of Health and Environment safety requirements. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Certifications: CPR & First Aid, within 30 days of hire. (Training opportunities available) WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment. Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks. Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies. Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA. May be required to stand for extended periods of time. Work in different temperature environments.
