CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker Human Services Department Do you believe every child deserves safety, stability, and support? Join our Human Services team and make a direct impact in the lives of children and families in our community. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker to respond to reports of child abuse and neglect, assess family safety, and connect families with the resources they need to succeed. This role is ideal for someone who excels at relationship-building, critical thinking, and trauma-informed practice. What Youll Do Conduct child protective services initial assessments involving allegations of abuse and/or neglectInterview children, parents, caregivers, collateral contacts, referral sources, and community partnersAssess child safety, family functioning, and risk factors through home visits and ongoing evaluationObserve home environments and complete thorough safety assessmentsDevelop and implement safety plans to support children and families when concerns are identifiedMake critical decisions regarding child safety, including determining when out-of-home placement is necessaryCoordinate appropriate care and placement options for children when removal is requiredBuild trust and rapport with families while navigating difficult and emotionally charged situationsApply trauma-informed care principles to support positive outcomes for children and caregivers What Were Looking For Strong engagement, communication, and assessment skillsAbility to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in high-stress situationsKnowledge of child welfare practices and trauma-informed care principlesSound judgment and decision-making abilitiesCommitment to supporting children, strengthening families, and serving the community Why Join Our Team?
