This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU 

Salary Range: $80-$90/hourly commensurate with experience 

Overview: 

The Psychiatric Provider/Psychiatrist is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric services in collaboration with the medical staff, Associate Psychiatric Director, and Chief Psychiatric Officer.

Core responsibilities include comprehensive psychiatric assessments, medication management, crisis intervention, and participation in integrated care planning. The Psychiatric Provider is expected to be knowledgeable about New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) regulations and to provide oversight of OMH assessments and treatment plans.

This position includes three days of direct clinical care and two administrative days focused on supervision, consultation, and system-level planning. Administrative days can be remote.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and monitor psychiatric services, ensuring coordinated care within the health services team.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Psychiatric Director to develop integrated behavioral health models.
  • Deliver psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis interventions, and treatment planning.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in coordination with clients' Primary Care Providers.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to staff on psychiatric assessments and client dispositions.
  • Assess and coordinate hospitalizations in partnership with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and care coordination, including issues pertaining to OMH and OASAS.
  • Review and approve OMH assessments and treatment plans in collaboration with the Chief Psychiatric Officer.
  • Facilitate in-service training and academic presentations for staff development, including Grand Rounds.
  • Serve as a liaison with external mental health agencies and internal program departments.
  • Ability to treat individuals with SUD using Harm Reduction philosophy
  • Being flexible for extended hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Psychiatric Officer.
Job Requirements:
  • New York State Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a master’s Level Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Familiarity with OMH regulations required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the psychiatric care of individuals with HIV/AIDS preferred.
  • Eligibility for at least one of the following is desirable:
    • Subspecialty certification in Addiction Psychiatry (ABMS/ASAM)
    • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Board Certification

Work environment:

  • Outpatient clinic setting

  • Hybrid schedule (in-person and telehealth)

  • The schedule for this position is 2.5 days, Tuesday 11am-7pm, Thursday 11am-7pm, Saturday 9am-1pm or 10am-2pm
