Full-Time Childcare Cook / Bus Driver

Position Summary


Discovery Point Hamilton Mill is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Full-Time Cook/Bus Driver. This position is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children and safely transporting school-age children to and from local schools.


The ideal candidate is punctual, organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a childcare environment.


Essential Responsibilities


Cooking and Kitchen Duties

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to the center’s approved menu
  
  
• Follow CACFP meal patterns, portion requirements, food-safety rules, and sanitation procedures
  
  
• Maintain accurate meal-production, food-temperature, and inventory records
  
  
• Follow all food-allergy and dietary-restriction procedures
  
  
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen, pantry, appliances, and food-storage areas clean and organized
  
  
• Receive and properly store food deliveries
  
  
• Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies need to be ordered
  
  
• Distribute meals to classrooms and collect dishes and meal supplies
  
  

Driving and Transportation Duties

• Safely transport children to and from local schools
  
  
• Follow assigned routes and transportation schedules
  
  
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and transportation logs
  
  
• Perform accurate attendance and name-to-face checks
  
  
• Ensure children are properly secured before the vehicle moves
  
  
• Check the entire vehicle after every trip to ensure no child remains inside
  
  
• Keep the center vehicle clean and report all maintenance or safety concerns immediately
  
  
• Maintain professional communication with children, families, school personnel, and coworkers
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 25 years old
  
  
• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  
  
• Must pass all required background checks and motor-vehicle-record checks
  
  
• Must be dependable, punctual, and available to work full-time Monday through Friday
  
  
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  
  
• Must be able to follow written menus, recipes, schedules, and safety procedures
  
  
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
  
  
• Must complete all required childcare, food-safety, CPR/First Aid, and transportation training
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience preparing meals for groups
  
  
• Previous childcare, school-bus, or passenger-van driving experience
  
  
• Knowledge of CACFP meal requirements
  
  
• Experience working in a licensed childcare center
