    Do you enjoy caring for people?  Are you a team player?  Are you ready to get to work now?  The DaMar Team is actively seeking out a cook for a nonprofit located in the Indianapolis Metro area.

     

    Client Profile- A nonprofit community service center.

     

    Job Summary- Responsible for preparing meals using standardized recipes for regular and therapeutic diets; appearance is important.  Must adhere to local Department of Health regulations and company policies.  Inspect food deliveries for accuracy and quality.
     


    Duties

    • Prepare weekly menus that reflect child and adult care food program requirements
    • Work with administration team for approval
    • Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms. Breakfast 7am to 8ish;   Prepping for lunch between 9am to 10am; Prepping for next day breakfast 3pm to 4:30pm
    • Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
    • Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
    • Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served meeting staff food program guidelines.
    • Maintain daily production and reporting
    • Trained on making weekly food orders through vendors
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen including food storage areas (make sure all thermometers are working properly, food items are checked for expiration dates, wash and sanitize all dishes, clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day, remove trash and recyclables daily, put a way groceries)
    • Build positive relationships with team members
    • Assist with other duties as assigned

     
    Qualifications

    • Able to follow a recipe and have basic cooking skills.  CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program training a plus)
    • Understanding of kitchen, safety and sanitation
    • Comfortable working in a commercial kitchen environment; equivalent to 100 production line soup kitchen
    • Neat in appearance and professional behavior.
    • Organized with ability to multitask and prioritize workflow
    • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
    • Hours: Monday thru Friday 7a to 4:30p (30 min to 1 hour lunch)
    • Starting pay $16.00 to $17.00 hourly based on experience, competitive insurance and benefits and incentives
