SUMMARY: The Head Teacher for the Kids Connection Program leads the K - 1 program at Wilkshire Early Childhood Center by designing and implementing age appropriate daily activities for students. This role is responsible for supervising staff, maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and serving as the primary point of contact for families. We are looking for an organized leader dedicated to providing an engaging experience for our youngest students.

Required Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate Credentials with required experience.
  • Associate degree in early childhood education or child development or
  • Bachelor's degree in education child development or a child related field.
  • One of the above must meet criteria for School Age Program Director by the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. (Program Details)
  • Must demonstrate ability to relate positively with children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Must demonstrate ability to coordinate and manage program activities and staff.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified or within the first 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with school age children.
  • Familiar with licensing rules for Child Care Centers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the daily on-site operation of the program and supervision of staff.
  • Implementation of an age appropriate program, which will include activities that will promote the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child.
  • Provide and maintain a neat and organized program, responsible for upkeep and inventory and purchase of equipment and supplies.
  • Reports to the Director of Child Care Programs.

Terms of Employment

Monday-Friday, (6:45 AM-8:30 AM) and (2:45 PM - 6:15 PM, plus .50 hour planning time)

Compensation/Benefits

According to Haslett Aide/Paraprofessional Association Agreement
