We are growing rapidly and looking for high performers at every level to grow with us.POSITION SUMMARY:The Camp Counselor engages and supervises groups of children in grades K-12 in a variety of sports activities in the venue and ensures that they have a positive, enjoyable, and safe experience in these group activities. Responsible for carrying out lesson plans and coaching designed by the Program Manager. Responsible for maintaining effective discipline and safety procedures during all activities. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:Supervise and coach a group of 8-10 campers each dayMaintain updated rosters and program forms while on dutyOrganizes, instructs and supervises children while they engage in group and individual sports activitiesContacts parents via phone and email related to program schedule Maintains effective discipline and safety procedures during sports program activitiesAssist with early morning drop-off and/or late pick-up for campAssist other counselors/coaches with all camp activitiesPerforms other related duties as directed and/or requiredThe incumbent enforces policies, procedures, and safety rules at assigned sitesAdditional tasks assigned by managementMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in a day camp or sports program setting working with childrenCollegiate or high school athletic experience preferredCollege degree preferred, or current student working towards a degreeA variety of recreational and athletic activities; knowledge of basic sports skills and instruction; and knowledge of sports rules and regulationsAbility to work with and communicate well with children in grades K-12 and their parents as well as other staff Ability to lead and involve campers in various sports activities Ability to edit MS Word/Excel documents and send email messages with attachments to parents Ability to provide first aid and emotional support and assistance to children in grades K-12 Ability to coordinate the use of facilities and activities for a large group of children Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees Ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and other staffLicenses and Certifications: CPR and first aid certifications preferred WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist highMay be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bendMust be able to walk to identify problems or hazards as well as work with children during recreational activities
