    About This Role

    Maintain a secure and stimulating environment for children. Monitor their activities, engaging with them to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development. Collaborate with parents to share daily experiences, behaviors, and any concerns that may arise. Provide nurturing care in a childcare setting, where every child feels valued and supported.



    What You'll Do

    • Provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
    • Engage with children, observing and participating in their play activities.
    • Communicate with parents about daily events, behaviors, and relevant issues.
    • Nurture children's emotional and social growth, fostering empathy and positive self-image.
    • Care for children in a childcare setting.
    • Sanitize play equipment and toys.
    • Clothe children and change diapers as needed.
    • Maintain records on individual children, including daily observations and information on meals, activities, and medications.
    • Identify signs of emotional or developmental issues in children and bring them to the parents' attention.
    • Instruct children in health and personal habits.
    • Organize and store toys and materials to maintain a tidy environment.
    • Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to children's needs.
    • Read to children and introduce them to art, music, and other creative activities.
    • Assist in meal preparation and serving.
    • Establish a regular routine for rest periods.


    Requirements

    Must have all qualifications prior to entry:

    High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)

    Level 1 IVP Fingerprint card

    Must have after hire;

    First Aid/CPR

    Food Handlers Card


    Physical Requirements:

    • Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing
    • Incumbents may be subjected to blood and other body fluids
    • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects


    Nice To Haves

    CDA certification

    At least six months of experience in the childcare field
