Job Title: Part-Time Children's Residential LPN
Department: Caritas Youth Therapeutic Treatment Center
Status: Part-Time, Nonexempt
Reports To: Youth Residential Nurse Manager
Starting Compensation Pay: $35.00/hr
PURPOSE: The Children's Residential Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the physical, emotional, and medical wellbeing of each youth in the residential programs of the agency, by ensuring timely and appropriate health care. The LPN focuses on promotion of health through advocacy and education to youth on healthy lifestyle options and treatment compliance. The LPN works in a care-team environment with other residential staff utilizing in-depth consideration of trauma informed care to ensure youth successfully transition through treatment towards a lower-level of care.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
Degree/Field Required: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - State of Illinois
Additional Fields of Knowledge Important for the Role:
Experience Required: Minimum of one year of experience working with youth. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Licenses/Certifications Required: Licensed LPN in the State of Illinois
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Manager-Specific: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Basic: Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Effective communication, documentation, and ability to apply medical knowledge in a residential care setting.
Social: Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, instruct staff, and provide compassionate, service-oriented care.
Problem Solving/Decision-Making: Ability to make timely decisions under pressure, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to emergent situations.
Proficient Computer Skills In: Outlook, Word, and database systems for medication management, client care, and nursing documentation
Expert Computer Skills In: N/A
Resource Management: Ability to manage healthcare records, medication systems, staff training requirements, medical appointments, quality assurance processes, and multiple resident healthcare needs simultaneously.
Technical: Ability to utilize medical equipment and healthcare tools appropriate for patient care.
Trauma-Informed: Must display a willingness to adopt trauma informed interventions, principles, and practices as well as commitment to ongoing development of their capacity for application of trauma informed care. Realizes the prevalence of trauma among persons served by Caritas and the general population. Recognizes how trauma affects everyone involved-including clients, their families, staff, and community; and impacts behaviors. Responds to trauma by actively implementing the guiding principles of trauma informed care into their daily practice. Resists re-traumatization of persons served and staff providing services, by creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments.
