We deliver secure, high-quality language support in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

We are seeking Chuj Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Chuj, a Mayan language spoken in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala and parts of southern Mexico, is a rare but critical language often required in asylum and immigration proceedings.

  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural awareness in immigration and legal contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
  • Support both scheduled and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Chuj and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government strongly preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of Mayan/indigenous Guatemalan culture.
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive pay: $30–38/hour (rare-language premium).
  • Remote work via secure USCIS-approved platforms.
  • Paid training and professional development.
  • Steady assignments under a federal contract.
  • Advancement opportunities in quality assurance or linguist leadership.
