    Job Description

    The CIBS RTO Database Specialist is responsible for managing and improving the systems used to collect, analyze, and report data related to professional development facilitated through the Center for Intensive Behavioral Supports (CIBS) Restraint and Time-Out Project. This includes data from both online and in-person learning opportunities, such as training participation, completion, evaluation feedback, knowledge gains, and other indicators of project reach and impact.

    Working in close collaboration with CIBS staff, the Database Specialist supports the project's ability to monitor professional learning activities, evaluate outcomes, and use data to inform continuous improvement. The role is responsible for producing accurate and meaningful reports, maintaining organized and secure data systems, and helping the project communicate its impact to internal leadership and external stakeholders.

    Required Qualification:

    • Bachelor's degree in data science, information systems, education, psychology, statistics, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data management, database development, or data analysis.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of Illinois Administrative Code 23 IAC 1.285 and state requirements related to restraint, time-out, and isolated time-out.
    • Experience working with large datasets, including data cleaning, validation, and reporting.
    • Proficiency in data management and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms).
    • Experience developing dashboards and data visualization tools for diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong understanding of data privacy, confidentiality, and FERPA requirements.

    Preferred Qualification: 

    • Master's degree in a related field.
    • Experience working within K–12 education systems, special education, or behavioral health.
    • Knowledge of ISBE data systems and reporting structures (e.g., Student Information Systems, RTO reporting).
    • Experience analyzing behavioral or discipline-related data (e.g., RTO, suspensions, behavioral incidents)
    • Familiarity with equity-focused data analysis and disproportionality
    • Experience supporting grant-funded or statewide initiatives.
