SALARY: $45,000 to $60,000/Annually

 

JOB OVERVIEW

The Facilities Associate/Drywall, Patch, and Paint Specialist will work under the direction of the Managing Director of Facilities to perform repair, patching, finishing, and painting work in occupied school buildings. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and able to maintain a clean and safe work environment during school operations.We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, works efficiently, communicates well, and can be trusted to complete high-quality work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment. 

 

This role is designed for a highly motivated, self-directed individual who can operate with agility in a dynamic environment. The Associate will support the CICS Facilities team in providing a positive educational environment for students and faculty.  This role requires a strong on-the-ground presence across Chicago neighborhoods, and flexibility to work at times that will not interfere with teaching and learning.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform drywall installation, repairs, patching, mudding, taping, sanding, and finishing
  • Match existing wall and ceiling textures
  • Prepare surfaces for painting including patching, caulking, sanding, and priming
  • Paint walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and other surfaces with professional-quality finishes
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas at all times
  • Protect floors, furniture, and surrounding areas during work
  • Identify and report additional repairs or site concerns when necessary
  • Complete projects independently with minimal supervision
  • Accurately plan and execute projects, including estimated timelines, labor hours, and completion dates
  • Travel between multiple school sites as needed
  • Remain flexible and responsive in emergency situations requiring schedule or site changes
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, maintenance teams, subcontractors, and school staff
  • Communicate professionally with school administration and team members
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and school safety protocols

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of drywall and painting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of drywall repair, finishing, and commercial painting techniques
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks without constant supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to accurately estimate material needs, labor hours, and project durations
  • Experience working in schools, commercial buildings, or occupied facilities preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel between project sites throughout the workday
  • Ability to pass background checks required for school work
  • Must be punctual, professional, dependable, and team-oriented

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with texture matching
  • Experience with minor carpentry repairs
  • Ability to read work orders and scopes of work
  • Familiarity with commercial paint systems and materials
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced or changing environments

Requirements

  • Must provide own basic hand tools
  • Must maintain professional appearance and conduct on school property
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
