City/County Planner

Greenwood County, South Carolina

Greenwood County is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to serve as our next City/County Planner. This position plays a key role in guiding growth and development throughout Greenwood County by providing planning expertise, reviewing development proposals, assisting citizens and developers, and supporting long-range planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong communication skills, planning experience, and a passion for serving the community.

What You'll Do

• Assist citizens, property owners, and developers with land use planning and development processes.
• Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on rezoning applications.
• Serve on the Planning Commission and the City of Greenwood Board of Architectural Review.
• Prepare reports, narratives, presentations, and planning documents.
• Review and approve subdivision plats and manufactured home permits.
• Assist with updates and amendments to County ordinances.
• Issue Code Clearance and Zoning Compliance forms.
• Participate in long-range planning initiatives, GIS analysis, and special projects.
• Make public presentations and work with community stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Urban Planning, or a related field.
• Ten (10) years of planning experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Schedule

Monday – Thursday
7:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy a four-day work week and a three-day weekend every week.
