Civil Associate Engineering Technician – Underground Transmission

About the Role

COMPANY is seeking a Civil Associate Engineering Technician to support the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) team. This position performs intermediate‑level technical tasks in support of creating and modifying engineering deliverables for underground transmission line projects. Work includes developing plan & profile drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

This is a contract‑to‑hire opportunity requiring onsite presence in Overland Park, KS.

Key Responsibilities

• Support engineering teams under general supervision.

• Perform technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

• Use digital design tools (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create and update project deliverables.

• Develop plan & profile drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and project files.

• Apply COMPANY quality standards to ensure compliant, error‑free deliverables.

• Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, and departmental guides.

• Perform basic computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.

• Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences.

• Support internal client needs while gaining an understanding of external client priorities.

• Participate in continuous improvement and change‑management initiatives.

• Proactively learn and apply new technologies, tools, and processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation experience.

• Ability to develop plan & profile deliverables in Civil 3D.

• Working knowledge of alignments, plan/profile, and sections.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to follow established standards, document control practices, and quality procedures.

• Minimum 2 years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate required.

• Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design‑Related Technology preferred.

• Must complete all pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review, in compliance with applicable laws.

• Must be local to the Overland Park, KS area and able to work onsite 5 days/week.
