Civil & Concrete Construction Superintendent


Location: Honolulu, HI -- Field-based work on Oahu

Hawaii Works is seeking an experienced Civil & Concrete Construction Superintendent to lead field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands civil and concrete construction, can interpret plans accurately, and knows how to organize people, equipment, inspections, and production schedules. You will be responsible for maintaining clear communication between the field and project leadership while holding the team accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and jobsite organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Study and understand project plans, specifications, schedules, and scope requirements.
  • Develop and manage production sequencing for active projects.
  • Lead, coach, and support field teams of up to 15 employees.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, equipment, materials, and onsite activities.
  • Confirm that work is complete and ready for scheduled inspections.
  • Verify grades, elevations, site layout, and construction accuracy.
  • Submit weekly field as-built markups and required project documentation.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and reinforce company safety policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready jobsites.
  • Review crew performance and conduct quarterly employee evaluations.
  • Approve field employee time-off requests in accordance with company policy.
  • Report equipment damage, schedule risks, and field problems promptly.
  • Prevent avoidable rework, delays, waste, and downtime.
  • Model the company's core values and hold the field team accountable to them.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience leading civil or concrete construction projects as a Superintendent, Foreman, or equivalent field leader. 
  • Two or more years of concrete and civil construction experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete, excavation, grading, utilities, and civil site work.
  • Experience performing site layout, using a transit, and shooting grade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and job details accurately.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold field employees accountable.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills when working with crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and project leadership.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and within demanding project schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to being humble, team-oriented, accountable, and solution-driven.
  • Must demonstrate the ability, motivation, and capacity to successfully perform the responsibilities of the role.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $120,000 per year
  • Weekly pay
  • Primarily Monday through Friday
  • Typical schedule of 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., depending on project requirements
