Civil Construction Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join our team and play a key role in preparing competitive, accurate estimates for civil construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience with takeoffs, bidding, subcontractor solicitation, cost analysis, and project pricing, along with a solid understanding of civil construction methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and bids for civil construction projects from conceptual design through final bid.
• Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and scopes of work.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material calculations.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and vendor pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and potential cost impacts.
• Prepare competitive and profitable bid proposals.
• Analyze historical project costs and production data to improve estimating accuracy.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors during the estimating process.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs.
• Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, and cost databases.
• Assist with value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
• Support project handoff from estimating to operations.
• Stay current on material costs, labor rates, market conditions, and construction trends.

• Earthwork and site development
• Demolition
• Excavation and grading
• Utilities and underground infrastructure
• Stormwater and drainage
• Roads and paving
• Water and wastewater
• Erosion and sediment control
• Concrete and structural work
• Public and municipal construction
• Commercial site development

Qualifications

• 3+ years of civil construction estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of civil construction means, methods, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not always required.
