Job Description

This role offers an opportunity for a Civil Designer with a strong interest in land development to contribute to a variety of site and land development projects. You will use Civil 3D and related design tools to support grading, drainage, and site layout work while collaborating closely with a small civil engineering team in a primarily remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil design plans for land development and site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare grading and drainage designs that meet project requirements and applicable standards.
• Collaborate with a small civil engineering team to coordinate design tasks and ensure project alignment.
• Participate in project meetings, either in person or virtually, to review design progress and address technical issues.
• Work independently in a remote environment to complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.
• Use collaboration tools, including online meeting platforms, to communicate design changes and project updates.
• Conduct occasional site visits as needed to support design work and verify field conditions.
• Maintain organized design files and documentation to support project delivery and team coordination.

Essential Skills

• Experience as a Civil Designer with a focus on land development projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design, including grading and drainage.
• Hands-on experience in land development and site development design.
• Ability to produce accurate grading plans and drainage layouts.
• Strong civil design skills with attention to detail and constructability.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and meet project deadlines while working remotely.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members in both in-person and virtual settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with small civil engineering teams.
• Comfort using virtual meeting tools for design reviews and coordination.
• Ability to perform occasional site visits to support design verification.
• Interest in growing technical skills in land development and site design.

Work Environment

The role is based out of an office located in Minnetonka, with the majority of work performed remotely. You will primarily collaborate with a small civil engineering team, using online communication and collaboration tools to coordinate design work and project tasks. While most responsibilities involve design and coordination through virtual platforms, you may occasionally visit the office for in-person meetings or to work directly with the team. There may also be occasional site visits to support project needs. The environment emphasizes independent work, accountability, and meeting project deadlines in a flexible, remote-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minnetonka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
