The City of Eugene Public Works Engineering Division is recruiting for a Civil Engineer 1/2. The Civil Engineer 1/2 performs complex professional engineering work in the design, investigation, construction management, and project management of public works projects. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of infrastructure projects; candidates with water resources (stormwater/wastewater) or transportation experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Acts as project manager and provides direction and supervision to technical staff. Assignments require the use of judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments.
The Engineering capital projects team has recently divided into two design focused groups and a construction focused group. This position will be filled on the design focused side of the Team. Depending upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities possessed by the successful applicant, this position may be filled as either a Civil Engineer 1 or Civil Engineer 2.
Salary Range:
Civil Engineer 1: $42.04 - $47.62 / Hourly; $87,443.20 - $99,049.60 / Annually
Civil Engineer 2: $44.83 - $60.52 / Hourly; $93,246.40 - $125,881.60 / Annually A 2.7% COLA increase is effective 7/1/2026.

Work Schedule: The City of Eugene is shifting to a work environment of primarily in office work to foster collaboration and connection. New employees must work on site full time for the duration of their probationary period (typically 12 months). Following the probationary period employees may utilize a flexible working environment one day a week per the Alternative Work Policy.
