Job Description
Take the lead in shaping the future of civil engineering in New Jersey. A highly respected engineering consultancy (company confidential) is seeking a Civil Engineering Branch Manager to oversee operations, drive business growth, and guide a talented team of engineers and surveyors. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for a seasoned Professional Engineer who thrives on strategic oversight, technical excellence, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Lead and mentor a team of engineers and surveyors
Provide technical guidance, training, and professional development
Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed and continuously improved

Project Oversight & Technical Expertise

Oversee civil engineering design efforts including reports, calculations, construction drawings, and specifications
Conduct technical reviews of staff work, reports, correspondence, and deliverables
Troubleshoot complex engineering challenges and provide technical recommendations
Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with budget expectations

Client Management & Business Development

Build and maintain strong client relationships
Support and develop project proposals, scopes, and budgets
Actively pursue business development opportunities with new and existing clients
Leverage strong local ties and industry presence to expand the firm’s reach

Collaboration & Industry Engagement

Communicate effectively with clients, agencies, and internal departments
Participate in professional and technical organizations to support office visibility
Support ongoing improvements to internal tools, standards, and resources to enhance quality and efficiency

Qualifications
Qualified Candidates Will Bring:

Strong technical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate engineering concepts
Experience preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction-phase engineering support
Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems
Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and mentoring capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience developing detailed reports and client proposals
Proficiency in standard software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong regional client relationships and the ability to generate new business
