Civil Engineer

Civil Project Engineer / PE — Charlotte, NC

My client is a well-established civil engineering firm with deep roots in the Charlotte market. As two of our founding partners prepare to transition, we're looking for a licensed Civil PE who's ready to do more than fill a seat — we want someone who wants to grow into a leadership role and eventually help shape the future of this firm.

What you'll be doing

• Leading civil engineering projects from concept through construction — site design, grading, stormwater, utilities, and permitting
• Managing client relationships and serving as a day-to-day project lead
• Collaborating with senior partners during a structured knowledge transfer period
• Mentoring junior staff and contributing to project delivery standards
• Stepping into increasing responsibility as the firm's next generation of leadership

What we're looking for

• Licensed PE in Civil Engineering (North Carolina preferred)
• 5–10 years of civil engineering experience, ideally in land development or municipal projects in the Charlotte region
• Someone who knows the local entitlement and permitting landscape
• Strong client communication skills — you're comfortable owning a relationship, not just executing tasks
• Ambition — you want a path to principal or partner, not just a job
