Does routine professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the entry level class in the professional civil engineering series. This class differs from that of Civil Engineer II in that the Civil Engineer I receives specific instructions and follows well established engineering practices, whereas the Civil Engineer II exercises some degree of judgment based on experience.
This class differs from classes in the Drafting series in that the Civil Engineer I may perform drafting work including limited assignments in designing.
This class differs from classes in the Land Surveying series in that the Civil Engineer I is primarily concerned with the design, construction or inspection of engineering projects and topographical surveying is incidental to the aforementioned duties and responsibilities.Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
