Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class reviews plans/calculations for compliance with City codes and state laws and regulations related to water, sewer, subdivision, streets, and stormwater. Work includes performing design work, performing complex engineering calculations, preparing engineering reports, environmental impact statement, permit applications, construction plans, technical specifications, bid documents, contracts, etc. for capital projects, and assisting with a variety of other engineering-related tasks. The employee may manage or work with consultants to perform engineering design, testing, or construction inspection services. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Engineer and is reviewed through observation, conferences and review of reports and documentation.
