Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- PE license in NJ or NY preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and design tools such as INROADS and Civil 3D
- Familiarity with OPENROADS is a plus
- Ability to collaborate with junior engineers and independently execute roadway design tasks
- Working knowledge of key roadway design manuals, including:
- AASHTO Green Book
- NJDOT Roadway Design Manual
- FHWA MUTCD
- Prior experience with AASHTO and NJDOT specifications and plans, plus exposure to standards from agencies such as NJTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or PENNDOT
- Ability to implement QA/QC processes, including review of field data, design reports, project evaluations, prioritization, optimization of work programs, and compliance with NJDOT and County requirements
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the design of:
- Roadways
- Intersections and interchanges
- ADA curb ramps
- Parking facilities
- Pedestrian infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Civil roadway design for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Preparation of contract plans and documents, including bidding packages
- Coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design accuracy and project compliance
