    Civil Engineer – Site DevelopmentMorrison–Maierle is a 100% employee‑owned firm specializing in integrated consulting and design services in engineering, planning, surveying, and science.Position: Civil Engineer – Site DevelopmentJob status: Exempt‑salariedLocation: Billings, MT(Relocation assistance provided)Overview : Lead the design and delivery of grading, drainage, utilities, permitting, and construction administration projects from concept through construction, managing projects and building client relationships in a collaborative, employee‑owned environment.ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery & Design LeadershipLead the design and delivery of grading, drainage, utilities, permitting, and construction administration.Oversee preparation of construction‑ready engineering plans, specifications, and technical documentation.Support the Engineer of Record for assigned projects or project components.Ensure technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.Provide construction administration oversight and support during project implementation.Project Management & ExecutionManage projects from proposal through construction, including scope, schedule, and budget performance.Coordinate with clients, architects, permitting agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes.Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and resource planning.Navigate regulatory requirements and secure necessary approvals and permits.Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with client expectations and company standards.Progress toward Engineer of Record responsibilities and project management with experience and licensure.Client Engagement & Business DevelopmentBuild and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact.Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including supporting proposals, interviews, and client development efforts.Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations leadership to expand market presence and client base.Contribute to strategic growth initiatives within the land development practice.Mentor and develop engineers and design staff to support project delivery and professional growth.Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure consistency and quality across project teams.Foster a collaborative team environment that supports knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or equivalent ABET‑accredited engineering program.Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience with site civil / land development engineering including technical design and project leadership.Minimum of one year of project engineering experience leading small teams and project phases.Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or able to obtain soon after hire.Experience managing projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and overall delivery performance.Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact.Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including clients, architects, and consultants.Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering design software for roadway, utilities, and grading design.Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue, and support new business opportunities.Experience mentoring and developing engineers and design staff.Effective communicator, both written and verbal.Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record for project‑related travel.Benefits$105,000 to $130,000 base pay (DOE)Annual bonuses based on performance.Ownership through Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); 100% company‑paid ownership contributions.90% company‑paid shared health plan premiums.Paid time off in year one.Paid parental leave and volunteer time off.Six paid company holidays and two floating personal holidays.401(k) matching program.AD&D Insurance, Short/Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance paid by the company.Morrison–Maierle is an equal‑opportunity employer and complies with all U.S. work eligibility requirements.
