Estimator/Project Manager

About the Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to join a dynamic and growing Utility Contractor. This role is perfect for a professional with a strong background in boring and horizontal drilling, as well as expertise in estimating projects involving site development, utility construction, tunneling, dewatering systems, earth retention, pile driving, and deep foundations.

The ideal candidate will also have a passion for leveraging construction technology and play a key role in implementing improved software solutions to streamline processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate cost estimates for projects focused on boring, horizontal drilling, and other heavy civil construction scopes.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and scopes to ensure comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to define project budgets and assess risks.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Lead efforts to research and recommend new construction software and technologies.
  • Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions.
  • Mentor and support junior estimating staff.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 7 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Proven expertise in boring and horizontal drilling is essential.
  • Familiarity with earth retention, pile driving, and dewatering systems.
  • Proficient in construction estimating software and knowledgeable about emerging technology trends in construction.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
