    Civil Highway Engineer (4+ years of Transportation Design)Full-timeBusiness Group: DCSLegal Entity: AECOM Technical Services IncBusiness Line: TransportationWork Location Model: HybridPrimary Location: US - Pittsburgh, PA - 436 7th Ave.Compensation: USD 90,000 - USD 125,000 - yearlyJoin AECOM's Civil Engineer - Highway / Transportation Design Team in Pittsburgh, PA to work on a variety of challenging and interesting projects. Projects range from roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation planning studies. The Pittsburgh team is part of our Greater Pennsylvania Area (GPA) which has close to 90 Engineers and nearly 30 experienced Project Managers who will help support and mentor you for career growth! This role could alternatively be officed in Morgantown, WV on a hybrid basis.Recent notable projects include:I-80 Reconstruction (Jefferson County, PA) - Six-mile section of rural interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, interchange ramp improvements, and reconstruction of two overhead bridges.I-70 Reconstruction (Washington County, PA) - Model-based delivery project for a six-mile section of rural interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, interchange ramp improvements, and reconstruction of 18 structures through the corridor.W Washington St Reconstruction (Bradford, PA) - Drainage model-based delivery pilot project for a one-mile section of urban corridor, including full depth roadway reconstruction, sidewalk improvements and drainage upgrades.ResponsibilitiesDevelop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation detailsIdentify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needsDevelop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimatesImplement 3D CADD modeling techniquesDevelop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standardsAdhere to and promote AECOM quality proceduresComplete interdisciplinary technical reviewsContribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budgetPrepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitationsWork collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client's scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision makingProvide support to AECOM project managers and department managersMinimal travel of up to 5 - 10% for client meetings or site visitsAttributesIndependently analyzes and applies solutions to challenging issues within area of expertise by applying critical thinkingApplies broad knowledge of at least one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical and operational practicesPrepares project deliverables that are reviewed by senior team membersObtains technical certificates and licenses, where applicableContributes in one or more areas of knowledge, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions where precedent may not existPerforms a self-check of work products prior to submitting to othersPerforms technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and proceduresAssists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programsWork is accomplished autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects within established procedures and practicesGenerally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leadsBegins to interact directly with client to gather information andMinimum RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationDemonstrated experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar design highway or transportation design applicationsPreferred QualificationsDesign experience with PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projectsExperience in civil engineering with an emphasis on Roadway, Drainage, Traffic, Site-Civil projectsDemonstrated experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software (MS Office)Ability and willingness to offer mentorship to various levels of staffAbility and willingness to operate within a hybrid work schedule environment with hybrid teamsProfessional Engineer (PE) License in any state, or ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hireDegree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABETBenefitsAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
