Description

A highly regarded med-mal defense firm in Atlanta (near Emory) is seeking a civil litigator with 3-5 years of experience to join their collaborative team. This is an exciting opportunity to manage an active caseload from intake through resolution, working closely with partners, nurses, paralegals, and staff with minimal supervision. The firm is family-friendly, with reasonable billable hour requirements and generous benefits. Must be actively licensed in good standing in the State of Georgia. Salary $100K+

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day case operations with minimal supervision and escalate material issues to partners as appropriate.
  • Draft and finalize all pleadings and discovery
  • Oversee and coordinate nurse, paralegal, and secretary staff to ensure clear task delegation and timely execution.
  • Attend and cover depositions; prepare detailed deposition reports and case assessments.
  • Coordinate and conduct calls with expert witnesses; assist with expert strategy and preparation.
  • Review and analyze medical records; collaborate with nurses and paralegals to organize expert packets and case materials.
  • Prepare for trial, including pretrial filings, exhibit and witness preparation, and trial notebooks; attend and participate in trial.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in medical malpractice and/or civil litigation on the defense side.
  • Proven experience drafting pleadings, managing discovery, taking/defending depositions, and court appearances.
  • Experience working with expert witnesses and analyzing medical records.
  • Prior trial preparation and courtroom experience (state and federal) is a MUST
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume docket with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
