(HPE) is seeking a full-time Project Engineer (3–5 years' experience) to join our growing land development team in Tampa, Florida.The role of Project Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently and as a team member on a wide range of Community Development projects under the guidance of a Project Manager. This role offers direct exposure to firm leadership and a clear path toward Project Manager and Engineer of Record (EOR) responsibilities. A Civil Project Engineer will be involved in projects from concept through construction, including design, permitting, and construction‑phase support for residential and commercial developments throughout central and west Florida region.The ideal candidate has experience in site design, drainage, and utilities, is proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Stormwise, and is familiar with Florida permitting processes and agency coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and manage land development projects from initial due diligence through construction completionAssists project managers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.Coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies to advance project approvalsPerform site feasibility analysis and participate in pre‑application and agency meetingsPrepare engineering design and construction documents, including:Site layout and gradingStormwater management systemsWater, wastewater, and reclaimed water utilitiesParking layout, access, and circulationPavement marking and signing plansAssists project managers with drainage calculations, reports, and cost estimatesUtilize AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and plan productionPrepare and submit permitting packages to agencies such as:Southwest Florida Water Management DistrictsFlorida Department of TransportationLocal municipalities and counties throughout central and west Florida regionCoordinate with architects, MEP engineers, landscape architects, and surveyorsSupport construction‑phase services, including:Responding to RFIs and contractor inquiriesReviewing shop drawings and submittalsReviewing test reports and inspectionsPreparing punch lists and closeout documentationAssisting with record drawings and Certificate of OccupancyMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)3–5 years of experience in land development / site civil engineering in FloridaProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil site design and grading plans.Experience with stormwater modeling software (e.g., StormWise or similar)Working knowledge of Florida design standards, permitting processes, and municipal codesStrong organizational and time management skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsEngineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensureExperience coordinating with agencies such as SWFWMD, FDOT, and local jurisdictionsFamiliarity with Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP) and Florida stormwater criteriaExperience preparing or supporting permit submittals and agency responsesExposure to construction administration and field coordinationAbility to work on multiple projects with increasing levels of responsibilityCareer Growth Path (Project Engineer to Project Manager)This position is structured for long‑term growth within HPE.
