Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Site Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Chesapeake, Virginia.OverviewThe Staff Civil Site Engineer will work on project teams to create world class site designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various projects including pipelines, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, commercial, and government facilities. The role involves working throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors, locality requirements, and client needs.ResponsibilitiesPerform and assist in civil design and calculations for projects from conceptual phase through design completionModify and review drawings for a variety of projectsDesign civil components to meet project needs and requirements set by project managers, incorporating client, local, state, and federal regulations, including site demolition, erosion and sediment control, grading, drainage, stormwater management, site layout, sanitary sewer, domestic and firewater layout and design, utility profilesApply knowledge of site civil engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the industryResearch and compile project-related data, studies, and reports; write specifications; prepare client presentations and contract documentationPerform field inspections, measurements, and calculationsMentor younger staff membersAdhere to all company policies and standardsQualificationsBachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program, plus 3+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferredAlternatively, a Bachelor degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferredMaster degree in Civil Engineering with 2+ years of civil engineering experience; consulting experience preferredStrong knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and proceduresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work methodically and analytically in problem-solving environments, demonstrating critical thinking skillsStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD, and hydraulic/hydrologic analysis programsStrong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, organization, and problem-solving skillsEngineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferredWe thank all applicants for their interest.
