Civil Site Engineer (Forensic Engineering)

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

• Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure such as land developments, commercial/retail projects, mixed used projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements.
• Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater management and stormwater conveyance, underground utility systems, erosion control, concrete flatwork, road design, maintenance of traffic, and hardscape systems.

Experience with:

• Design of roads including sight distance analysis, roadside design, vehicular use areas, parking lot design, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways.

• Stormwater management design, hydrology, and modeling of retention/detention facilities, culverts, storm drain systems, and open channels.

• Knowledge of FEMA floodplains and regulations (a plus).

• Applicability of MUTCD including maintenance of traffic and underground utility markings and protection of utilities.

• Preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans including NPDES permitting, sediment and erosion control design and inspections.

• Municipal zoning and variance hearings.

• Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients.

• Responsible for retention and development of client relations.

• Prepare oral and written reports in laymans terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.

• Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups.

• Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of civil/site development experience.
• P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing.
• Must possess strong writing skills.
• Public speaking experience (a plus).
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback.
