Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Civil Staff Engineering Technician - Substation to support innovative Grid Solutions projects, including substations and overhead transmission infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to design and develop critical civil infrastructure that supports today's and tomorrow's energy demands.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience using Civil 3D and MicroStation and be comfortable contributing to site development design, grading and drainage plans, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utility layouts.

This position is fully onsite in Ann Arbor, MI, and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the office.

Requirements

• Green Card holder required
• Must be located within 50 miles of Ann Arbor, MI
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation required
• Minimum 5 years of related engineering technician experience
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening requirements, including background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables
• Create and maintain civil design drawings, plans, and documentation using Civil 3D and MicroStation
• Prepare site development plans including grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and utility layouts
• Perform design calculations, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and technical documentation
• Review design inputs and ensure consistency with project requirements, codes, and standards
• Apply established engineering principles and design practices to moderately complex projects
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to support successful design development
• Contribute to quality assurance efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and technicians
• Assist with schedule maintenance and work assignments as needed
• Support project field activities when required
• Stay informed on emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience in civil engineering design or engineering technician roles
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation
• Experience creating technical drawings, models, and design deliverables
• Knowledge of civil design standards, document control procedures, and applicable engineering codes
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
