Osmose Utilities is currently seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer Steel to join our structural engineering team.
This role is designed for experienced engineers who are prepared to take on advanced technical responsibilities, provid independent engineering judgement, and lead medium to large-scale projects. This role will oversee complex restoration and repair designs for steel, concrete, and foundation structures, including unique or non-standard solutions with minimal guidance. This position requires expertise in structural modeling and analysis, execution of PE review responsibilities, and the ability to provide final technical direction. In addition to project leadership, the position plays a key role in mentoring less experienced engineers, refining departmental standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices. This position offers the opportunity to exercise advanced technical skills, grow leadership capabilities and ensure the delivery of safe reliable and cost-effective structural solutions.
Responsibilities
Oversee design development of assigned steel structure repair projects (this includes familiarity with the entire “inspection/engineering/repair” workflow; coordinate all design, modeling and drafting activities utilizing in-house and subcontract engineers and drafters.
Develop and document structural calculations for steel structure repair in conformance to applicable codes, standards and customer requirements; work with fabricators and vendors to utilize the most cost-effective materials and processes on steel structure repairs.
Work with Business Development and Product Managers to develop new products and pursue/vet project opportunities; support pilot projects for all business units by providing field support, writing reports and compiling data for presentations; support R&D projects by participating in field work, performing testing, compiling data and writing reports.
Oversee field activities on assigned projects to ensure conformance with project and customer requirements.
Provide training to field personnel on new repair methodologies and techniques.
Work with the Manager of Engineering to develop drawing standards and specifications to support steel structure repair projects.
Must be currently authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
Bachelors Degree in Structural or Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET- accredited program
Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensed required.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering.
Demonstrated expertise in steel, concrete and foundation design.
Experience with existing structure restoration and repair applications preferred.
Experience Leading medium-to-large, complex projects with minimal guidance.
Significant field exposure to construction and restoration projects, with the ability to adapt designs to field conditions.
Technical Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
4+ years of experience with structural analysis software (RISA 3D, PLS, FEA software, etc.)
Strong proficiency in interpreting analysis results and making independent engineering decisionss.
Experience with existing structure repairs/modifications highly preferred.
Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting/modeling software preferred.
Professional Development:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Design & Analysis:
· Review data collected during field assessments of transmission structures
· Assign standard restorations and repairs for existing steel, concrete, and foundation structures
· Design up to complex adjustments to standard restorations, including bolted, welded, and post-installed concrete connections
· Design complex, unique, or one-off restorations and repairs with little to no guidance or direction
· Review results from structural models and perform final interpretation, providing direction and engineering decisions based on results
Drawing & Documentation:
· Review construction drawings for accuracy and provide markups or changes to align with design requirements
· Execute PE review of standard and non-standard designs before construction review and material orders
· Ensure all deliverables meet safety, quality, and compliance standards
Mentorship & Technical Guidance
· Mentor and provide direction to less experienced staff on both standard and non-standard design practices
· Review calculations and analyses of less experienced staff, providing feedback prior to final PE review
· Contribute to departmental knowledge sharing and best practice development
Project Oversight:
· Oversee medium to large-scale projects with minimal guidance and direction.
· Oversee multiple small to medium-scale projects at a time.
· Provide technical leadership throughout project execution, ensuring deliverables, budgets, and schedules are met
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and construction challenges
Field Support
· Travel to construction sites as needed to observe field conditions and provide direction for onsite adjustments
· Translate field observations into actionable design changes, ensuring constructability and safety
· Serve as a primary engineering point of contact during construction for complex or unique situations
Professional Development & Standards
· Maintain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and continue pursuing advanced technical and professional certifications
· Demonstrate leadership in safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all assignments
· Support departmental growth by developing design standards, training materials, and process improvements
· Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical and professional growth
· Represent the company’s engineering capabilities in client and industry-facing engagements when required
