Our client is a top civil utility contractor in New Jersey, with 50 year history of servicing the New Jersey Utility market.
Job Description
Manage day-to-day field operations for utility and civil construction projects. Supervise and coordinate crews installing water, sewer, storm drain, and related underground utility systems. Plan and schedule labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to maximize efficiency and productivity. Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and local regulations. Conduct daily site inspections and enforce safety standards and company policies. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, utility companies, and municipal agencies. Monitor project schedules and proactively resolve field issues to avoid delays. Track production, labor costs, equipment utilization, and project progress. Lead weekly toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning sessions. Maintain accurate daily reports, job logs, and documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Ensure quality control standards are met throughout project execution.

The Successful Applicant
A successful Civil Superintendent should have:
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing heavy civil and utility construction projects.
- Extensive experience with underground utilities, including: Water mains, Sanitary sewer systems, Stormwater systems, Force mains, Utility relocations.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, shoring, grading, and site development activities.
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, specifications, and utility profiles.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and utility safety requirements.
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience with municipal, DOT, and public infrastructure projects.
- NCCER or other construction management certifications.
- Knowledge of GPS machine control and modern construction technologies.
- Experience with project scheduling software and construction management systems.
