Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Location: Golden, CO
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in workers' compensation claims adjusting.
Education
- High School diploma required.
- Additional college coursework equivalent to an Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
Certifications
- No certification required.
- ARM (Associate in Risk Management) preferred.
- ARM-P (Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation (DOWC) regulations, required forms, and filing deadlines.
- Knowledge of insurance policies and fundamental workers' compensation coverage and compensability principles.
- Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology used in claims processing.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and document preparation for claims litigation.
- Experience using Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) for data entry, claims notes, and status reporting.
- Ability to gather and verify demographic information, contact information, and initial injury reports.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating indemnity payments and monitoring claim reserves.
- Ability to coordinate IMEs, DIMEs, social media checks, and surveillance assignments.
- Strong customer service and communication skills when working with injured workers, HR, payroll, and management.
- Ability to identify complex issues and escalate them appropriately.
- Ability to maintain organized electronic and physical claim files.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical and personal information.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and changing environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to focus on objects at varying distances and distinguish between colors, with corrective lenses if needed.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including operating computers and small office equipment.
- Basic mobility and ability to safely navigate the office environment.
- Ability to speak clearly, listen attentively, and communicate information accurately.
- May be required to give presentations to groups.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to analyze complex situations, identify potential risks, and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to remain flexible in dynamic environments and adjust plans as requirements change.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other teams.
- Ability to manage time and priorities while meeting deadlines.
