Director of Claims Key Responsibilities
Lead claims operations to meet turnaround, accuracy, and productivity goals.
Oversee disability, Paid Family Leave, critical illness/accident, medical, vision, dental, and flexible benefits claims.
Monitor workflows and ensure efficient processing of complex or high-dollar claims.
Track and report claims metrics, identify quality issues, and implement process improvements.
Coach, mentor, and manage union and non-union staff to achieve performance goals.
Ensure team maintains up-to-date knowledge of benefit plans, systems, and regulations.
Collaborate with leadership on claims strategy, compliance, and operational initiatives.
Director of Claims Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or related field (Associate degree considered)
NYS Accident & Health Adjuster License (or ability to obtain after hire)
Claims handling experience (health, disability, Paid Family Leave, or self-funded plans)
Management or supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of claims systems, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
