Description
Position Summary
This role supports a state government unclaimed funds division, which reunites residents with unclaimed property — funds held when an account becomes dormant and the holding business no longer has valid contact information for the account owner. The division safeguards these funds and works to identify and locate rightful owners.
Assignment Details
Contract length: approximately 6 months, with possibility of extension
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
No holiday or weekend work
Parking not included
Onsite position
Job Duties
Examines, reviews, verifies, and processes claims
Collects background information to validate claims
Ensures compliance with applicable unclaimed funds laws and regulations
Corresponds with claimants and reporting agents
Analyzes reports and forms submitted with claims
Processes complex claims requiring in-depth research
Serves as primary point of contact for incoming claimants
Minimum Qualifications (must meet at least ONE of the following)
Completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting; OR
2+ years of recent accounting experience; OR
Completion of undergraduate core coursework in business administration, economics, computer science, or a related field, including 16 semester hours (or 24 quarter hours) in accounting; OR
An equivalent combination of the above
Additional Requirements
Strong attention to detail
Strong computer skills, with high proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel
Solid, stable work history (no frequent job changes)
Strong administrative skills in an office environment
