Claims Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Claims Manager to oversee Claims Supervisors and provide leadership and operational direction across a claims organization. This position is responsible for ensuring claims are handled efficiently and accurately while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
The Claims Manager will work closely with supervisors, claims professionals, clients, and internal business partners to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve escalated issues, and support the overall performance and development of the claims operation.
Pay: $115,000 to $135,000 DOE
Responsibilities
Oversee and support a team of Claims Supervisors and claims professionals.
Provide leadership, coaching, feedback, and professional development to supervisors and their teams.
Establish performance expectations and monitor productivity, quality, claim inventory, and cycle-time metrics.
Provide technical guidance on complex and escalated claims and assist with appropriate resolution strategies.
Ensure claims are handled in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and applicable state regulations.
Review claims data and performance reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement strategies to improve claims quality, efficiency, customer service, and overall claim outcomes.
Monitor claim-related expenses and ensure appropriate use of vendors and other resources.
Assist with escalated customer and client issues and ensure concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners, including clients, brokers, vendors, legal resources, underwriting, SIU, and recovery/subrogation teams.
Conduct regular meetings with supervisors and provide ongoing communication regarding company policies, procedures, goals, and performance expectations.
Stay current on insurance regulations, industry trends, and claims handling practices.
Participate in department initiatives, process improvement projects, and other special projects as assigned.
Support staffing, training, budgeting, and other operational needs as required.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in insurance claims or a related field.
Previous claims management or supervisory experience.
Experience overseeing Claims Supervisors or multiple claims teams is preferred.
Strong knowledge of insurance and claims handling principles and practices.
Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to review data and performance metrics and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Insurance certifications or professional designations are a plus.

This role requires someone who can balance people leadership, claims technical knowledge, operational performance, and client service while working collaboratively across the organization.
