Job Description Class A CDL Commercial Driver Local/Regional
Pay Rate: .595 Cents/ Mile and/or $24.00/Hr (where pertinent based on work assignment).
Overview:
Primary responsibility will be to safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicle in full compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations in the performance of assigned duties.
Support Local/Regional transportation operations based from the Harrisonburg terminal
Regional operations typically consist of 150-250 mile runs, which offer home time daily/nightly. Layovers may be required occasionally.
Remain flexible, open and agreeable to a wide range of assignments while on-duty
Report for duty when/where assigned
Communicate all issues related to the condition of company trucks and trailers to designated company staff
Employee will not operate, or allow to be operated, any equipment that would not meet federal, state or local standards
Complete and submit all required paperwork, logbooks, shipping documents, etc. per requested schedules to accurately reflect the work performed
Adhere to and follow all federal, state, local, and company safety rules and regulations at all times including operation of electronic logging devices (ELDs)
Create and maintain positive, appropriate, and productive relationships with all customers, members of the general public, and InterChange staff members through responsible driving habits and proper interactions
Perform all assigned duties safely, quickly, and efficiently to avoid unneeded expense
Perform all duties in a professional manner which promotes the growth, profitability and success of the company
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum H.S. degree or equivalent preferred
Must hold a current CDL-A with a driving record acceptable to company insurance carrier
Must hold a current Medical Examiners Certificate
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds at shoulder height
Must be able to read and write well enough to understand and complete required documentation, shipping forms, road signs, and other written communications
Ability to enter and exit truck cab safely and repeatedly during the work shift
Ability to crank landing gear, operate 5th wheel release, and connect air/electrical lines repeatedly and without difficulty during work shifts
Ability to properly secure loads using provided straps and other equipment
Ability to remain flexible, open, and agreeable to a wide range of assignments while on-duty
Ability to repeatedly open & close trailer & shipping container doors throughout the workday. Door weights may vary from 120 to 350lbs. each.
