Truck Driver - Class A CDL (Home Daily / Local)

This is a home daily, local driving position - you will not be running long-haul or overnight routes. As a Truck Driver with WCTractor, you will be responsible for managing the transport of construction and ag equipment between locations, typically operating a flatbed truck and trailer, with vehicles ranging from 3/4 Ton trucks up to 18 Wheelers depending on the load. This role requires precision and care, including maneuvering in tight spaces at customer sites and dealership lots, and regularly interacting face-to-face with customers and team members. Safety is a top priority in everything we do.
Class A Truck Driver Responsibilities
Primary duties include loading and properly securing equipment, safely transporting equipment between locations, and communicating with WCTractor team members and customers on a regular basis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment
- Transport tractors and equipment over the road to and from stores and customer locations, using vehicles ranging from 3/4 Ton trucks up to 18 Wheelers depending on the load
- Inspect vehicle and trailer for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Document and log appropriate work/rest periods and miles driven
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks and trailers into tight loading or unloading positions at customer sites and dealership locations
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers during pickups and deliveries
- Report defects, accidents, or violations in a timely manner
Class A CDL Truck Driver Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Trucking school diploma
- Valid Class A CDL license in good standing
- Proven work experience as a truck driver; flatbed and equipment hauling experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Willing to submit to DOT regulations and requirements
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication
Class A CDL Truck Driver Working Conditions
- Work normally performed in a vehicle, shop, or outdoor setting; home daily with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed
- Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace
- Must maintain a valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record and all certification requirements for operating material handling equipment as necessary
- Local routes; minimal to no overnight travel required
Class A CDL Truck Driver Physical Requirements
- Must continually be able to lift and handle heavy loads up to 70-100 lbs., and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have good eyesight (correctable to 20/20) and normal hearing for safety requirements and troubleshooting equipment
- Requires sufficient visual acuity, dexterity, and coordination to safely and efficiently operate machinery
- Must be able to tolerate temperature shifts inherent to an outside environment
- Position may require walking, standing, stooping, and transporting materials or parts on a regular basis, up to OSHA limits
