Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Class A Fitter Welder (ASME Welder) to join a growing manufacturing team in Broken Arrow. This position is responsible for fitting and welding custom bladder tanks, strainers, valve products, and other pressure-containing components using MIG, Flux Core, and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) processes while meeting strict ASME code requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong fitting skills, experience working with custom-engineered assemblies, and consistently produces high-quality, watertight welds in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous ASME welding and fitting experience preferred
Experience with MIG (GMAW), Flux Core (FCAW), and Submerged Arc (SAW) welding processes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, fabrication sketches, and weld symbols
Strong fitting and layout skills with the ability to work to precise tolerances
Experience using precision measuring tools including tape measures, levels, squares, and calipers
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fit, tack, and weld custom bladder tanks, strainers, valve products, and fabricated assemblies according to ASME and company standards
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering specifications
Measure and verify dimensions to ensure proper fit-up and assembly accuracy
Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, torches, saws, and material handling equipment
Perform basic equipment setup and routine maintenance as required
Conduct visual inspections and quality checks prior to formal QA inspection
Complete job documentation, material records, and time tracking accurately
Maintain a clean, organized workspace following 5S and lean manufacturing principles
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet quality and scheduling goals
Assist in training junior welders and support continuous improvement initiatives
Follow all company safety procedures, ASME requirements, and PPE guidelines
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete:
3G Downhill MIG Stringer Weld Test
Uphill Flux Core Fill and Cap
Must successfully pass Visual Inspection and Bend Test
Preferred Qualifications
Previous pressure vessel or ASME fabrication experience
Experience fitting custom-engineered assemblies
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
Experience mentoring or assisting less experienced welders
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in multiple welding positions throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around heavy steel, welding fumes, sparks, heat, and industrial machinery
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing and ASME fabrication facility
Exposure to welding equipment, heavy steel materials, fabrication machinery, and industrial shop conditions
