KIA DESIGN CENTER AMERICA is seeking a Chief Class-A Digital Modeler for DSO/CAD model development. KDCA plans to expand its modeling support to include Approval and DSO pre-production models, which requires modelers with Class-A production experience
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead Design surface development through expert evaluation and Engineering or Supplier feedback, using Autodesk Alias software
Lead cross-system surface execution to ensure Design and Production compatibility
Confirm surface interfaces are modeled in-context to a coordinated data set, including Supplier data
Develop and maintain a coordinated Class-A surface database
Ensure incorporation of technical attributes and program requirements into surface development whilst maintaining Design vision
Support workload distribution and prioritization of assignments within CAD team and outside vendors
Provide technical guidance, development, and assistance to Class-A surface modelers in the delivery of feasible CAD models, aligned with program milestones and requirements, while also maintaining Design intent
Develop and implement performance strategies to improve deficiencies and attributes within the team
Drive resolution of surface data issues by leading power-wall and digital reviews
Manage surface changes with daily updated compilation files
Maintain program history to accurately represent evolution of Design and Change control
Oversee and identify new technologies, strategies, and methods for improving the DSO (Design Sign-Off) process
Establish and support strong communication with our partners overseas and at HATCI
Attend meetings with Korean and US Design and Engineering groups
Maintain daily communication, and attend meetings with, outside Korean CAS/CAD vendors
Create and present clear, technical reports on project status and issues
Provide CAS assistance for Design models when DSO (Design Sign-Off) work is light
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Bachelors or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
7+ years of experience in Class-A surfacing (Exterior and Interior)
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Fluent in both English and Korean strongly preferred for strong communication with both US and Korean counterparts
Demonstrate creative and artistic insight
Ensure progression of surface data, consistent with Engineering requirements and Surface Design language
Strong technical skills in Class-A surfacing tools (Autodesk Alias), Data Management, Visualization tools, feasibility processes, and project milestones
Proven ability to evaluate Design alternatives and provide recommendations when necessary
Demonstrate interpersonal skills, including ability to plan and organize within a team structure
Working knowledge of vehicle construction and production methods
Strong communication skills and collaborative behavior for daily interaction with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Vendor, and Colleagues
Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities
Proficiency in planning, executing, and closing projects
Flexibility in handling multiple projects concurrently

California Salary Range: $130,000-$195,000
