Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Class B Welder for a high-level fabrication opportunity in Tulsa. This position is responsible for welding waste heat recovery equipment, boilers, and pressure vessels built to ASME Code using multiple welding processes and materials.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of manufacturing welding experience with strong Flux Core (FCAW) and Stick (SMAW) skills. TIG (GTAW) and Submerged Arc (SAW) experience are highly valuable.
This is a quality-intensive welding position where completed welds must meet applicable ASME, company, and customer requirements and successfully pass X-ray and other required non-destructive testing.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing welding experience
Strong Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience
Strong Stick (SMAW) welding experience
Ability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
Experience welding heavy fabricated components
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
Ability to follow welding procedures and specifications
Experience using carbon arc gouging equipment
Experience using cutting torches
Ability to produce welds capable of passing required NDT inspections
Ability to successfully complete required weld tests
Strong attention to weld quality and workmanship
Ability to work Friday and Saturday overtime when required
Strong commitment to welding and shop safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Weld waste heat recovery equipment according to applicable requirements
Weld pressure vessels built to ASME Code
Perform welding on firetube boiler components
Perform welding on watertube boiler components
Fabricate and weld steam drums
Work on economizers and superheaters
Perform FCAW welding
Perform SMAW welding
Perform GTAW welding when required
Perform SAW welding according to experience and assignment
Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
Follow applicable welding procedures
Prepare joints and materials for welding
Use carbon arc gouging equipment
Operate cutting torches
Inspect completed work for visible quality concerns
Complete repairs when required
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Assist with additional shop labor duties as needed
Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete required hands-on weld testing.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a fabrication environment where welding quality and compliance are critical.

Depending on project requirements, Welders may work with:
Carbon steel
Stainless steel
Chrome alloys
Nickel alloys
Other applicable pressure-containing materials
Experience welding multiple materials is strongly preferred.
Quality & NDT Requirements
Produce welds according to applicable ASME requirements
Follow company welding procedures and quality standards
Meet applicable customer specifications
Maintain proper weld profile and workmanship
Inspect completed work for visible defects
Correct weld defects when required
Produce welds capable of passing X-ray inspection
Meet other applicable non-destructive testing requirements
Maintain consistent quality throughout production
Blueprint & Welding Procedure Responsibilities
Read fabrication blueprints and drawings
Interpret applicable welding information
Follow Welding Procedure Specifications as assigned
Identify joint configurations and welding requirements
Verify materials and components before welding
Follow required welding sequences and processes
Communicate drawing or procedure concerns to appropriate personnel
Gouging & Material Preparation
Candidates should have experience with:
Carbon arc gouging
Cutting torches
Joint preparation
Weld removal and repair preparation
Grinding and cleaning
Material preparation before welding
Preparing defective areas for repair welding

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
Ability to weld in multiple positions, including overhead and vertical
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precision welding
Ability to safely operate gouging, cutting, grinding, and welding equipment
Comfortable working around heavy fabricated components, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Heavy industrial welding and fabrication environment
Regular work involving boilers, pressure vessels, steel alloys, welding equipment, gouging equipment, and cutting torches
Quality-intensive environment involving ASME Code fabrication and NDT requirements
Regular MondayThursday | 6:00 AM 4:30 PM schedule
Friday and Saturday overtime of 6:00 AM 2:15 PM may be required
