Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced Class B Welders to join a manufacturing and fabrication team supporting boiler systems and structural projects in the Owasso area. This position works alongside Class A Welders and departmental leadership to perform welding, fit-up preparation, fabrication, and production activities while developing advanced skills in ASME code work and blueprint interpretation.
The ideal candidate has at least two years of welding and manufacturing experience, is certified in FCAW and GMAW processes according to ASME code requirements, and is committed to developing into a higher-level welding role.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of manufacturing and welding experience
ASME welding certification in FCAW and GMAW processes
Working knowledge of welding equipment, setup, and operation
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to accurately use measuring devices
Strong mathematical and measurement skills
Developing proficiency in blueprint interpretation
Strong attention to weld quality and workmanship
Ability and willingness to attend assigned training courses
Ability to work other shifts when required
Reliable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform welding and fabrication activities supporting boiler systems and structural components
Assist with planned daily production and fabrication activities under supervision
Prepare parts, tools, materials, and equipment for scheduled fit-up operations
Set up and operate welding equipment according to established procedures
Perform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding according to applicable requirements
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding instructions
Develop and apply knowledge of departmental operating procedures and individual job-task requirements
Support fit-up and fabrication activities as assigned by Class A Welders or departmental supervisors
Verify measurements and component placement using appropriate measuring devices
Maintain quality standards throughout welding and fabrication operations
Identify and communicate production, quality, or equipment concerns to leadership
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned
ASME & Welding Knowledge
Candidates should possess or continue developing an understanding of ASME code requirements applicable to assigned work, including the ability to recognize and understand:
Fillet welds
J-groove welds
Back gouging
FCAW welding procedures
GMAW welding procedures
Weld preparation and fit-up requirements
Applicable quality and inspection expectations
Preferred Qualifications
Previous boiler manufacturing or fabrication experience
Structural welding experience
Experience working under ASME code requirements
Strong blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills
Fit-up and fabrication experience
Experience participating in continuous improvement or Operational Excellence initiatives
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and working in multiple welding positions
Ability to safely operate welding equipment and fabrication tools while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around boilers, structural steel, welding equipment, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout the workday
Work Environment
Industrial boiler and structural fabrication environment
Regular use of FCAW and GMAW welding equipment and fabrication tools
Hands-on work involving structural components, boiler systems, fit-up, and welding operations
Team-oriented environment working closely with Class A Welders, supervisors, and production personnel
Strong emphasis on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and development of advanced welding skills
