Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Class B Welder to join a night-shift manufacturing and fabrication team in the Owasso area. This position supports welding and fit-up operations while working alongside Class A Welders and departmental leadership on industrial fabrication projects.
The ideal candidate has at least two years of manufacturing and welding experience, strong knowledge of welding equipment, and ASME certification in FCAW and GMAW processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to continue developing advanced welding, blueprint reading, and ASME code skills.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of manufacturing and welding experience
ASME welding certification in FCAW and GMAW processes
Strong working knowledge of welding equipment and proper equipment setup
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to accurately interpret and use measuring devices
Strong math and measurement skills
Developing proficiency in blueprint interpretation
Strong attention to weld quality and workmanship
Ability and willingness to attend assigned training courses
Ability to work other shifts when required
Reliable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform FCAW and GMAW welding according to applicable procedures and specifications
Assist with planned daily welding, fabrication, and production activities
Prepare parts, materials, tools, and equipment for scheduled fit-up operations
Support pre- and post-production readiness activities
Set up and safely operate welding equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding instructions
Develop a thorough understanding of departmental operating and job-task procedures
Support fit-up and fabrication activities under the direction of Class A Welders and departmental leadership
Verify measurements and component placement using appropriate measuring equipment
Maintain established quality standards throughout welding and fabrication operations
Participate in Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify and communicate production, quality, or equipment concerns
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Perform additional welding and fabrication responsibilities as assigned
ASME & Welding Knowledge
Candidates should possess or continue developing a strong understanding of applicable ASME code requirements, including:
Fillet welds
J-groove welds
Back gouging
FCAW welding procedures
GMAW welding procedures
Weld preparation and fit-up requirements
Applicable quality and inspection expectations
Preferred Qualifications
Previous industrial or structural welding experience
Experience working under ASME code requirements
Strong blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills
Fit-up and fabrication experience
Experience working alongside senior or Class A Welders
Previous involvement with Operational Excellence or continuous improvement programs
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and working in multiple welding positions
Ability to safely operate welding equipment and fabrication tools while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around structural steel, welding equipment, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout an extended night shift
Work Environment
Industrial welding and fabrication environment
Regular use of FCAW and GMAW welding equipment and fabrication tools
Hands-on work involving structural components, fit-up, and welding operations
Night-shift environment working closely with Class A Welders, supervisors, and production personnel
Strong emphasis on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and development of advanced welding skills
