Suitable for an Early Career Teacher

Lindhead School is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and highly effective teacher to join our team from January 2027.

We are a one-form entry primary school serving Burniston, Cloughton and the surrounding area to the north of Scarborough. Lindhead is a warm, friendly school with fantastic, enthusiastic pupils, supportive families and a staff team committed to providing the best possible education for every child.

This is an exciting time to join our school. There have been significant developments across teaching and learning, curriculum, inclusion and the wider opportunities available to our pupils, and we are looking for someone who wants to play an active part in the next stage of Lindhead's development.

The successful candidate will initially teach our Year 4 class. We are looking for someone who places high-quality teaching, strong academic progress and high expectations at the heart of their work, while also recognising the importance of relationships, inclusion and the wider life of the school.

Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers. For an ECT, we would be looking for clear evidence of the potential to become an excellent classroom practitioner. Lindhead has recent experience of supporting teachers successfully through the ECT process and can provide the appropriate mentoring, induction, professional development and statutory ECT entitlements.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has high expectations for pupils' learning, progress, behaviour and personal development;
  • is an excellent classroom practitioner, or an ECT demonstrating clear potential to develop rapidly into one;
  • understands how high-quality teaching, assessment and adaptation enable all pupils to make progress;
  • builds positive, respectful relationships with children while maintaining clear and consistent expectations;
  • is committed to meeting the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and additional needs;
  • is reflective, receptive to feedback and committed to continuing professional development;
  • responds constructively to challenge and change and demonstrates resilience, reliability and professional commitment;
  • works collaboratively and contributes positively to a supportive staff team;
  • communicates effectively with parents, carers and colleagues;
  • is willing to contribute fully to the wider life of Lindhead School and its community;
  • is willing, with appropriate support and according to experience, to contribute to curriculum development and subject leadership.

We are interested in the curriculum strengths, subject interests and expertise that applicants would bring to Lindhead. Please identify these clearly in your application. Subject leadership responsibilities will be matched, where possible, to the successful candidate's strengths, experience and the needs of the school.

We can offer:

  • fantastic, enthusiastic children who enjoy learning and are proud of their school;
  • a warm, friendly and supportive working environment;
  • a committed staff team and governing body;
  • supportive families and strong links with our local community;
  • clear expectations for high-quality teaching and learning;
  • a school committed to inclusion and enabling every child to succeed;
  • opportunities to contribute to curriculum and wider-school development;
  • opportunities to develop subject leadership experience;
  • access to appropriate professional development and support;
  • for an ECT, a structured induction programme, dedicated mentoring and the full statutory ECT entitlement, supported by recent school experience of the ECT process.

We are looking for somebody who wants not only to make a difference in their own classroom, but also to become an active member of the wider Lindhead community.
