Position Summary

This position serves as a Classification & Compensation Operations Specialist which provides support for compensation, employment, and operational processes within UNC Greensboro. The role supports the administration of position management, compensation actions, pay and leave-related processes, and HR transactional activities while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, UNC System requirements, and University policies. The position also supports data analysis, reporting, testing, and process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resource management, or a related field.
  • At least two to four years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with HR information systems (HRIS), such as: PeopleAdmin, Banner HR, LawLogix, HireRight, etc. is strongly preferred.

Temporary Employment and Operations Support

Essential Tasks

  • Oversees coordination of the University's temporary employment program and provides consultative guidance to departments on actions related to temporary classification and compensation, employment administration, pay processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Advises on position classification, compensation recommendations, hiring processes, employment timelines, pay procedures, and applicable University policies and procedures.
  • Assists departments with creating temporary position postings, navigating employment and HR operational processes, resolving transactional issues, and answering questions related to University employment. Escalates complex matters requiring policy interpretation, compensation review, or employment guidance to leadership or the appropriate HR personnel and ensures timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Ensures employment, classification, compensation, pay and workforce administration practices comply with applicable federal and state laws, UNC System regulations, and University policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of compensation programs, employment practices, pay administration, leave management inclusive of banner web time entry, HR operational processes, and human resources best practices.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and communication of policies, procedures, training materials, and website content related to Classification and Compensation and HR Operations, promoting consistent application of policies, operational efficiency, and compliance across the University.
  • Develops and delivers training and consultation to campus departments on temporary employment, classification and compensation practices, HR operational procedures, pay processes, and policy compliance. Prepares reports, analyzes workforce and employment data, and provides recommendations to support informed decision-making, operational effectiveness.
  • Partners with internal Human Resources team and campus departments to ensure consistent, accurate, and compliant administration of employment, compensation, pay, leave, and workforce management processes.
  • Provides consultative support to campus stakeholders on HR policies, operational procedures, and compliance requirements, that fosters effective working relationships across the University to enhance service delivery, strengthen operational efficiency, and support institutional goals and priorities.

Essential Tasks

  • Provides consultative and operational support for the administration and delivery of Classification and Compensation and Human Resources Operations programs.
  • Assists campus departments, hiring managers with position management, compensation administration, employment actions, pay and leave processes, and policy compliance while ensuring adherence to federal and state law, UNC System requirements, and University policies.

HR Initiatives & Operational Support

Essential Tasks

  • Provides support to the Class & Comp team and HR Operations unit through the coordination of special projects, operational initiatives, and workforce administration activities.
  • Assists with research, data analysis, reporting, system testing, process improvement efforts, and compliance-related projects while collaborating with campus stakeholders to support effective HR programs and strategic initiatives.
