POSITION: 5-Day, 6.42-hr. Bus Transportation Aide, Bus #47
HOURS: AM Route 5:40 a.m. 9:05 a.m. = 3 hour 25 minutes
PM Route 2:10 p.m. -- 5:10 p.m. = 3 hours
TOTAL TIME = 6 hours 25 minutes (6.42)
Times and school subject to change with the 2026-2027 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma/GED
- Must be able to supervise students and have a valid Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
- Must be able to perform medical procedures as needed.
- Ability to exercise considerable patience and to assist the physically, emotionally and mentally handicapped students during their transportation to and from school.
- Must be physically capable of stooping, pushing, carrying, bending, lifting and sustaining up to 40 lbs. independently, as well as assisting students in wheelchairs by pushing/pulling of varying weights up to and including persons in excess of 200 lbs.
COMPENSATION: As per OAPSE Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Transportation Aide for Handicap School Bus
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma/GED.
- Must be able to supervise students and have a valid Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
- Must be able to perform medical procedures as needed.
- Ability to exercise considerable patience and to assist the physically, emotionally and mentally handicapped students during their transportation to and from school. Must be physically capable of stooping, pushing, carrying, bending, lifting and sustaining up to 40 lbs. independently, as well as assisting students in wheelchairs by pushing/pulling of varying weights up to and including persons in excess of 200 lbs.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor, Building Principal and Director of Special Services
CONTRACT STATUS: 9 months
TIME SCHEDULE: Hours will depend on bus schedule needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the bus driver in helping handicapped students on and off of the bus.
- Assists handicapped students to their seats and fasten them in seat belt or safety vest.
- Assists in securing students in wheel chairs on the bus as well as loading and unloading them using the hydraulic lift.
- Assures the safety of students by monitoring their behavior and carrying out behavior management plans.
- To perform any other duties associated with the safe transportation of handicapped students as deemed necessary by the Director of Special Services.
