Position Information

Monday-Friday 8:15-12:15 or 12:30-3:30 depending on the needs of the school and the student's schedule.

Pay Grade Salary Hourly Pay Rate $12.00 FLSA Job Summary/Basic Function

Instructional Support

  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction and learning activities.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills.
  • Support literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and enrichment activities.
  • Assist with learning centers, guided practice, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement during lessons.

Student Support

  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Provide encouragement and support to students as they develop academic and social-emotional skills.
  • Assist students in following classroom routines and expectations.
  • Support students during transitions throughout the school day.
  • Help students develop independence and self-confidence.

Classroom Management

  • Assist with maintaining a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and school-wide behavior systems.
  • Support teachers in monitoring student behavior and engagement.
  • Help supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and special events as assigned.

Preparation and Organization

  • Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources.
  • Assist with copying, laminating, organizing, and preparing learning materials.
  • Organize classroom supplies and maintain learning spaces.
  • Assist with classroom displays and student work presentations.
  • Support inventory and organization of educational materials.

Assessment and Data Collection

  • Assist teachers with educational assessments as directed.
  • Support data collection related to student learning and progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.

Professional Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and school staff.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and flexibility in all assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Weber State University student eligible for employment through the 50/50 Student Employment Program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively with young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, organized, and professional.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Major in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child and Family Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
  • Experience working with children in educational, recreational, or volunteer settings.
  • Interest in teaching, child development, or related helping professions.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
