GRADE 9-Adult

JOB DESCRIPTION/STANDARDS

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate must:

  • Must hold a WVDE teacher certification in grades 5-12 or 9-adult.

  • Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia State Board of Education Minimum Standards for licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.

  • Successfully complete a criminal background check.

  • Have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.

  • Have received good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.

  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with industry, students, parents, and school personnel.

  • Hold an educational philosophy compatible with that of the Roane-Jackson Technical Center Administrative Council.

  • Possess the ability to work cooperatively with others including industry, parents, and community members.

  • Have attained high academic achievement in college education program or industry certification program.

  • Possess the ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.

  • Participate in sponsoring SkillsUSA student organization.

  • Develop and foster relationships for the program with local business and industry, county boards of education, and higher institutions in the region.

  • Seek out new career and work skills job sites within the region.

  • Be willing to participate in additional training and professional development as needed for the strength of the CWST program.

  • Be recommended by the Technical Center Director.

Immediate Supervisor: Director and/or Assistant Director

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement programs of study.
  • Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Utilize instructional management system models which increase student learning.
  • Monitor student progress towards mastery of instructional Content Standards.
  • Communicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis.
  • Meet professional responsibilities.
  • Maintain and upgrade professional skills.
  • Maintain productive work habits.
  • Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.
  • Maintain an active Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) for the instructional area.
  • Assist with the development of a cover letter and resume for every program completer.
  • Assists with the completion of student portfolios.
